Five Things Monday – Identity Design Edition

Welcome to “Five Things Monday.” As a graphic designer I thrive on inspiration, I try to look for it and find it everywhere. Sometimes you just need a little pick me up when you’re starting or stuck on a project. Some people need an extra cup of coffee on Mondays, I need a little extra jolt of inspiration (and lets be honest, that extra cup of coffee as well).

Identity is one of the may things we study at school. Every project you work on as a graphic designer has a brand and identity behind it. Some people love it, some people loathe it, and some people would rather work with the finalized identity than create it. Regardless of your view on designing identity it’s paramount to our lives as designers. Here are some of my favorite identity projects sitting in my inspiration folder.

1. David Taylor‘s work on the Canada Walk of Fame is fantastic. I love the combination of bold colors, clean illustrations and black and white photographs. (source)

2. Fruita Blanch is a family business that produces their own jam, preserved products and organic juices. Their packaging and advertising developed by Barcelona-based design studio Atipus. (source)

3. Reynolds and Reyner  developed this identity for the Liverpool English Pub in Ukraine. I adore the black and white photos and I swoon for a good wax seal. (source)

4. Promise Tangeman is one of my favorite designers. I love her tenacity and heart. She’s not afraid to make bold decisions whether or not they pay off in the end. I love this identity she created for Ave Styles. (source)

5. This work for Randy Renoli is another Promise Tangeman Design. I love the way she applies the branding across the elements, especially the website. (source)

What inspires you when you have a case of the Mondays?

Happy creating,
 Jennifer
